These are the most famous nine high-pitched letters in the world. The famous monumental “Hollywood” sign, made up of the capital letters of the name of this district of Los Angeles, will benefit from a facelift. The sign is in Griffth Park, which also houses an observatory. It can be seen clearly from the road that winds between other hills, Mulholland Drive, which has included it in the imagery of David Lynch’s film dedicated to the mirrors of the cinema industry.
The famous panel, erected in 1923 and overlooking the world capital of film studios, will therefore get a makeover before celebrating its centenary next year. Work will begin Monday and should last about eight weeks, announced the Hollywood Sign Trust, the organization responsible for protecting the site.
The letters are 14 meters high
After cleaning with a pressure jet, the letters, 14 meters high, will be repainted. A total quantity of 1500 liters of primer and white paint was planned.
“This sign is the pride of Los Angeles and we can’t wait for this renovation to be seen by fans around the world on this very special centennial,” said Jeff Zarrinnam, president of the Hollywood Sign Trust.
