The iPhone 14 and 14 Max (Plus), the two cheapest models in the range, are said to be well equipped with an Apple-designed A15 Bionic chip. However, it would seem that the chip is different from the one that powers the iPhone 13. Minor improvements would be on the program.
Contrary to its habits, Apple should not use the same chip on all the iPhone 14. According to leaks that have appeared in recent months, the Cupertino giant would reserve the new A16 Bionic SoC for the iPhone 14 Pro / 14 Pro Maxthe two high-end versions.
For their part, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max (Plus) should settle for an A15 Bionic chip. More affordable than the two Pro versions, the smartphones would inherit the same processor as the iPhone 13. Thanks to this approach, Apple would seek to dig into the differences between high-end and standard versions while reducing production costs, which are rising sharply.

What improvements for the A15 Bionic chip?
According to information gleaned by our colleagues from the Wall Street Journal, the A15 chip of the iPhone 14 would be different from that of the iPhone 13. Would the Californian group have improved the performance of the SoC for its integration into the iPhone 14?
” Base models will have an upgraded version of the current A15 processor “says the Wall Street Journal, citing” familiar people with company plans.
Unfortunately, the media does not specify what the improvements to the SoC program are. According to rumors, this new revamped A15 SoC will be equipped witha more powerful modem. It is also rumored that Apple has increased the graphics performance of the chip.
For the record, Apple has introduced two versions of the A15 chip in 2021. The version integrated into the iPhone 13/13 mini contained 4 cores for the GPU, compared to 5 graphics cores for the A15 of the iPhone 13 Pro.
According to our colleagues from WCCFTech, it is possible that the A15 chip of the iPhone 14 is simply the same chip as that of the iPhone 13 Pro. This is why the sources would speak of an improvement over the iPhone 13 and 13 mini, whose SoC offered lesser graphics performance. This difference already made it possible to segment the range last year.
We will be fixed as soon as Wednesday, September 7, 2022, date of Apple’s annual keynote. During the conference, the manufacturer should also lift the veil on the Apple Watch Series 8, or even a new pair of AirPods Pro.
