Sonos Sub Mini, a connected subwoofer for small spaces

We’ve been hearing about the Sonos Sub Mini for months. The device is now official. As expected, the sub is compact and less expensive than the Sub Gen 3, but offers powerful bass according to the company.

Little but strong

The Sub Mini features a different design from other Sonos products. It is small (23 x 30.5 x 30.5 cm), cylindrical in shape and has an oval slot in the middle.

In view of its size, the subwoofer is obviously designed for small and medium-sized rooms and aims to reinforce the bass of an existing installation, in particular with sound bars.

Despite its compactness, the Sub Mini promises powerful bass with its two 6-inch (15 cm) woofers placed face to face, which also cancels out unwanted vibrations, explains Sonos.

Two Class D digital amplifiers power the device, which is also compatible with the TruePlay calibration system and the customizable equalizer which improve sound reproduction. The company claims that its new subwoofer can generate frequencies up to 25 Hz. This means that it does not cover the full range of frequencies audible to humans, but almost.

The Sonos Sub Mini will be available on October 6th at a price of €499.
