Attacked by the Iranian axis since its decision to restore its diplomatic relations with Israel, Morocco nevertheless continues to win unanimity within Arab and Islamic institutions for its action in favor of the Palestinian cause. As a prelude to the meeting of Arab foreign ministers held this September 6, 2022 in the capital of Egypt, Cairo, the Arab ministerial committee in charge of action to end the Israeli measures in occupied Al-Quds welcomed this which he described as “constant efforts” of King Mohammed VI in the defense of the city of Al-Quds Acharif.
As chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, which comes under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Sovereign was thus at the initiative, through the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, the executive arm of the Al-Quds Committee, of several projects aimed at keeping the Maqdissis on their land and supporting their resistance. In this regard, we can recall that 86% of the financing of Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif comes from Morocco and that since the enthronement of King Mohammed VI in July 1999 alone, the Moroccan State has injected no less than fifty million of dollars.
In addition, the Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, in his report presented to the Arab Foreign Ministers, praised the mediation of King Mohammed VI which made it possible to convince Israel to reopen the border post in July 2022. ‘Allenby, at the border between the West Bank and Jordan, so that the Palestinian population has less difficulty in moving between the two territories. Also represented within the aforementioned Arab ministerial committee, Algeria had no other solution than to support the action of the Al-Quds Committee, which seeks to convince that the holding of the next Arab summit on its soil November 1 and 2, 2022 will not be an opportunity to sow more divisions within the Arab region.
Close to Iran itself, the eastern neighbor had, as we recall, blocked at the level of the United Nations (UN) an Arab resolution aimed at condemning the assassination of the Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh simply because the text wanted to highlight Moroccan action through the Al-Quds Committee. Its media nevertheless continue to accuse Morocco all day long of having abandoned Palestine, not without also irritating all the Arab countries which have chosen to normalize with Israel.
