A week after unveiling a pre-list of 36 namesthe coach of Cameroon, Rigobert Song, presented this Monday his final group of 26 players selected for the friendly matches against Uzbekistan (September 23) and South Korea (September 27). These will be the last two meetings before the 2022 World Cup.
This list is marked by three major returns. The most noticed is that of central defender Nicolas Nkoulou, who had been away from the selection since the coronation at CAN 2017 and who has just signed for Aris Salonika. No longer called since CAN 2019, defensive midfielder Georges Mandjeck also signs his comeback. The latest comeback is the striker of the Young Boys of Bern, Jean-Pierre Nsame, cold with the previous coach Toni Conceiçao and who had not appeared in selection since 2019.
Song dismisses Choupo-Moting
At the same time, several new faces will join the group just before the World Cup, including the binational of Brentford, Bryan Mbeumo, who recently opted for the Indomitable Lions, and the left side of Lorient Darlin Yongwa. Among the big losers, on the other hand, are former executives Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, lacking playing time at Bayern, and Christian Bassogog, who leave compared to the preselection, as do Ignatius Ganago (Lens) and Enzo Tchato (Montpellier ).
Present at a press conference, the technician will explain these choices as well as the absences of the two executives André Zambo Anguissa and Michael Ngadeu, already absent from the pre-list and probably left to rest.
