NFF elections: A debate in sight between the presidential candidates

The Federal Capital Territory Chapter of the Sportswriters Association has concluded its plans to host a presidential debate where all of the NFF presidential hopefuls will be in the hot seat. On occasion, they will tell Nigerians and football stakeholders how and what they intend to do to develop football if elected.

The decision was contained in a statement issued after their congress which took place on Thursday at the FCT’s NUJ office, Utako in Abuja, where a four-man committee was inaugurated. He was given the mandate to ensure that the presidential debate materializes. The committee members are Chris Onokpegu, Ben Ogbemudia, Niyi Busari and Calister Enegele, reports africafootunited.

According to the source, the presidential debate is expected to take place at Moshood Abiola Stadium in September 2022, although the date is yet to be set. However, SWAN is fully aware that the NFF election will take place on September 30, 2022.

Apart from the Presidential Debate which will be set up by SWAN, the statement also thanked the Football Association of Nigeria for not extending the term of the executive by also putting in place the modalities to ensure that an election will have take place on September 30, 2022 in Benin, the capital of Edo State.

FCT SWAN also proposed that SWAN be included in the proposed expanded NFF Congress and under this proposed that the sportswriters body send a delegate to the Minister of Sport to discuss the matter.
