Morocco face Thailand in friendly tournament

The Moroccan national futsal team will face its Thai counterpart on Sunday in Bangkok for the 2022 Continental Futsal Championship.

This is a friendly tournament, organized in the Thai capital from September 11 to 16, in preparation for the Asian futsal championship, scheduled for September 25 to October 20 in Kuwait.

The tournament sees the participation of six selections divided into two pools. The Moroccan selection is housed in Group A alongside the host country, and Mozambique. Group B is made up of Iran, Vietnam and Finland.

The two selections, ranked first and second in each group, will qualify for the semi-finals of this tournament, which is being held at the Indoor Stadium Huamark in the Thai capital.

In addition, the other teams will compete for fifth and sixth places. The Atlas Futsal Lions will thus have a new opportunity to compete against high-calibre teams, like Iran, 6th in the world and best team in Asia.

This friendly tournament will allow Hicham Dguig’s men to keep their competitiveness since they will not play in official competition until 2024, during the African Cup of Nations in Mozambique, of which they are the defending champions.
