Morocco elected to the Executive Committee of the Association of Secretaries General of African Parliaments

Morocco was elected as a member of the Executive Committee of the Association of Secretaries General of African Parliaments (ASGAP), on the sidelines of the ongoing work of the Standing Committees of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP), held at the headquarters of this institution in Midrand. , in South Africa.

With this election, which took place on the eve of the 11th Conference of Presidents of African National and Regional Parliaments, the Kingdom will sit within the Pan-African Association as 1st Vice-President in the person of Najib El Khadi, Secretary General of the House of Representatives.

Morocco’s participation in ASGAP will thus constitute an opportunity to strengthen the legal framework governing it, knowing that the representative of the Moroccan Parliament will be part of a drafting committee created for this purpose.

Morocco is consolidating its presence within the PAP, which it joined in 2018. Last July, the Moroccan deputy of the National Rally of Independents (RNI), which represents the region of LaĆ¢youne-Sakia El Hamra, Laila Dahi, was elected President of the Youth Caucus within the PAP.

In addition, Khadija Arouhal, from the Progress and Socialism Party (PPS), was elected vice-president of the Gender Commission.
The Conference of Speakers of African National and Regional Parliaments is organized within the framework of the Sixth Legislature of the PAP under the theme of the African Union (AU) for 2022: “Building resilience in nutrition on the African continent: Accelerating the human, social and economic development”.

During this conclave, which is held on the sidelines of the August sessions of the Standing Committees of the PAP (August 22 – September 02), the Kingdom is represented by the President of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami.
