Mamelodi Sundowns: Allende and Saavedra snubbed by their selection

Two Mamelodi Sundowns players, Marcelo Allende and Erwin Saavedra, were snubbed by their selection. These are respectively Chile and Bolivia.

Having made the choice to join Mamelodi Sundowns from Uruguayan club Montevideo City Torque, Allende was ignored by Chile coach Eduardo Berizzo. He didn’t call him up for the friendlies against Morocco and Qatar in September, although he managed his debut for the Brazilians scoring 2 goals in 5 games.

The 23-year-old was recently called up to Chile’s A team after captaining both the Under-17 and Under-20 national teams in the past.

Another Sundowns player suffered the same fate: the Bolivian Erwin Saavedra. He was not called up by Pablo Escobar, interim coach pending the arrival of Gustavo Costas, for the friendly match against Senegal. Saavedra joined the Brazilians at the start of the year, and has struggled with injuries for a long time.
