The first column of comedian Alexandra Pizzagalli in “Telematin” on France 2 made an oven, on September 5th. In his “Carte blanche” live, the new recruit of the morning made the pastiche of the portrait of Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel, the terrorist who drove the truck which killed 86 people and injured more than 450 others, during the Nice attack in 2016.
“Let’s be honest, it was a failure and it added pain to the families of the victims”
And as the trial for the July 14 attack begins, these jokes have created controversy. In a press release, France Television reacted on Monday, explaining: “The management of France Tele and the Telematin teams regret that a column with a humorous vocation has rightly offended many viewers. We offer our apologies and express our solidarity with the victims of the Nice attack and their loved ones.”.

This Tuesday, September 6, when Thomas Sotto and Julia Vignali went on the air on 2 at 6:30 a.m., the two hosts of the installment took a serious tone to return to this same incident. First, the reporter explained, “Many of you were rightly struck by a humorous column on the show yesterday which, let’s be honest, was missed. It can happen, but in this case it has only added pain to all those who have been victims of this tragedy, and for that we are deeply sorry (…) We want to apologize to you this morning facing this new ordeal with this trial which has just opened“.
It’s necessary “a lot of hindsight to laugh at such a drama“
For her part, Kad Merad’s companion shared: “Personally, the attacks have a very special resonance for me. I am unfortunately well placed to know that it takes a lot, a lot of hindsight to laugh at such a tragedy and sometimes you realize that you never get there.“.
