Interclubs 2022-2023: CAF maintains the implementation of the Covid-19 protocol

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has notified its member federations to continue to implement the Covid-19 protocol to fight against the coronavirus in its competitions, in particular in the Champions League and the Confederation Cup.

An official source within CAF revealed to africafootunited.com that the umbrella organization of African football has sent an official letter to all member associations or federations participating with their clubs in the interclub competitions, season 2022-2023 which will start on September 9. with the matches of the first preliminary round, to continue to apply the precautionary measures before, during and after the match against Covid-19.

The source specifies that CAF has sent a letter relating to the application of the rules of the Covid-19 protocol concerning the medical conditions which will be applied to clubs during the interclub competitions of the 2022-2023 season, namely the Champions League and the Cup. of the Confederation.

In the correspondence, the CAF medical committee asked the national federations to respect the Covid-19 protocol and to oblige the participating clubs to comply with its decision previously taken which relates to the acceptance of the PCR tests which will be carried out in departure countries to participate in the matches, provided that these tests have been carried out within 72 hours before the match.

As far as the host country is concerned, a PCR test must be carried out 48 hours before the match for its team, for the relevant match officials, and for all members of the local organizing committee working on the match. The host team bears all the financial costs of the Covid-19 testing procedures, and in the event that one or more members of the visiting team’s delegation are infected with Covid-19, it remains thereafter and after the day of the match in the host country until the end of his isolation and the host country bears the costs thereof.
