It is an increasingly thorny issue for the government: the flight of Imam Hassan Iquioussen. A European arrest warrant was issued against the Moroccan imam which Gérald Darmanin had done in recent weeks a symbol of the government’s fight against “separatist discourse”. Problem, if he is arrested and handed over to France, Hassan Iquioussen cannot be expelled to Morocco because the country has withdrawn the necessary documents from him.
“This person advocates separatismit is not a value of the Republic, so he was the subject of an expulsion order from the Minister of the Interior, which was confirmed by justice”, recalls this Monday, September 5 on RTL the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna.
“Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin is in contact with the Moroccan authorities and as he said himself, things will get back to normal soon. Morocco, of which this gentleman is a national, had issued a consular pass for 60 days. It is suspended but still valid,” she said.
