This Thursday, the transfer market closed its doors in the majority of the championships and many last minute movements took place.
Like every year on the last day of the transfer market, madness takes hold of a large majority of clubs which make many last minute moves. The 2022 summer transfer window was no exception to the rule and many movements took place this Thursday, including concerning major European clubs. GOAL recaps the most important transfers of the day on September 1.
PSG: Soler recruited, the loft almost completely empty
Mission accomplished or almost at PSG. The capital club completed the arrival of Carlos Soler on Thursday, but failed to recruit Skriniar in defense. Another important point for the club from the capital, which has been well reinforced this summer, the loft of undesirable players designated by Campos and Galtier has been well emptied. The Paris transfer window accelerated in the direction of departure on the last day of the transfer window with Julian Draxler (Benfica), Abdou Diallo (Leipzig) Idrissa Gueye (Everton) and Layvin Kurzawa (Fulham) who packed their bags. Only Mauro Icardi in discussion with Turkish clubs and Rafinha with a Qatari club, whose transfer window is still open, are still there.
OM: False start for Dieng, Caleta-Car in Southampton
As for Olympique de Marseille, it’s a last half-fig, half-grape day. The Phocaeans managed to slim down with the departures of Jordan Amavi to Getafe and that of Duje Caleta-Car to Southampton, but the biggest sale expected by OM failed. Indeed, Bamba Dieng who received offers from Lorient, Leeds and Nice will finally stay on the Canebière. This incredible saga around the future of the Senegalese ended in an incredible way, since after accepting the offer from Leeds, OM and the player preferred that of Nice, but the Senegalese failed the medical examination in the last hour of the transfer window.
The Gouiri-Laborde exchange validated
Speaking of Nice, which will therefore not be able to count on Bamba Dieng, the Riviera club has, on the other hand, succeeded in reforming the Laborde-Delort duo. Indeed, the Aiglons recruited Gaëtan Laborde from Stade Rennais, while Amine Gouiri took the opposite route, in a transfer which is not really an exchange but which looks like it like two drops of water. Rennes also recorded the arrival of Christopher Wooh from Lens against 10 million euros.
Aubameyang at Chelsea, Alonso at Barcelona
Abroad, Chelsea, FC Barcelona and Manchester United are the three major European clubs that were the most active during this last day of the transfer window. The Blues and the Blaugrana have finally made a deal. At the end of the evening, Chelsea formalized the recruitment of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, back in London, while Marcos Alonso returns home and does the opposite. Another recruit for Barça, Hector Bellerin. The Spaniard reinforces a right lane abandoned by Sergino Dest.
MU: Antony in, CR7 stays
With regard to Manchester United, the Mancunian club formalized this Thursday a highly anticipated transfer, that of Antony. The Brazilian international arrives from Ajax Amsterdam against the sum of 95 million euros plus five million euros in bonuses. In other news for the Red Devils, Cristiano Ronaldo’s future is finally resolved. The Portuguese remains in the North of England, at least until next January.
