Morocco is organizing in Dakhla under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Official Tournament of African Chefs on September 09 and 10, 2022. An event that will host two continental competitions: the Bocuse d’Or Africa and the African Cup pastry leading to the World Bocuse d’Or and the World Pastry Cup.
Eight African countries will take part in these prestigious competitions: Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Mauritius, Morocco, Senegal and Tunisia. All will compete in the African finals as part of the Official African Chefs Tournament organized by Rahal Event. Only those who reach the podium will be qualified for the world finals of the Bocuse d’Or and the World Pastry Cup, organized at Sirha next January.
The procedure and the technical conditions of the TOC Africa are identical to the two world finals with the presence of an international jury. The pastry teams will have to make an artistic piece in sugar and an artistic piece in chocolate in addition to three tastings: a frozen entremets, a frozen lollipop and a plated dessert. Remember that the national teams are qualified via the TOC Morocco organized every two years during the CREMAI exhibition. During this tournament, 12 candidates from different regions of the Kingdom compete to win a place in the national selections for all disciplines. Thanks to these competitions, Morocco is present in the most prestigious gastronomic meetings in the world: The World Pastry Cup, the Bakery World Cup, the Bocuse d’Or, the Glacier World Cup, the Pastry Queen for women pastry chefs, the Mondial des Chefs de Collectivités, the Passion Trophy, the Toque d’Or, the Dubai World Hospitality, International Cup, etc.
As a reminder, the Bocuse d’Or is the most prestigious gastronomy competition in the world. The World Pastry Cup is the benchmark event for the art of pastry in the world, both unifying the profession and revealing talents and trends. In this extraordinary show, the most promising talents from 21 countries compete in creativity and express the trends of their countries to carry the values and culture of their pastry with panache. These two competitions take place every 2 years during odd years at the SIRHA show in Lyon.
This year again, the edition promises an international aura thanks to the media device allocated to the event and the strategic choice of the city of Dakhla as host city. An opportunity to discover the region from the perspective of flavors and culinary know-how. More than 200 renowned chefs will be at the meeting to promote the south of the Kingdom and its products and above all to consolidate Morocco’s position as a prestigious hospitality and gastronomy destination on the African continent.
