Canal+ launches its first daily soap opera in Africa

The first episode of “Future is ours”, the first daily series from the Canal+ Original label for French-speaking Africa, was broadcast yesterday on Canal+Pop. A “great pride” for the channel and On Est Ensemble Productions. From Dakar to Kinshasa, via Libreville, we have not finished talking about it, we are assured.

The creator of this series is none other than Olivier Szulzynger, author of More beautiful life Where such a big sun. The latter has participated in the training and support of African screenwriters. In total, a pan-African team of more than fifty talents took up this production, writing (three years of work) and directing challenge, something “unheard of” on the continent.

The production of the sixty twenty-six-minute episodes is carried out by six recognized or rising directors: Samantha Biffot, Franck Vlehi, Olivier Koné, Boris Oué, Andy Melo, Françoise Ellong. This soap opera series intended for a family audience will be broadcast from Monday to Friday in access prime time (6:45 p.m.) on Canal+Pop.

The future is ours follows the daily life and adventures of several families in a district of Abidjan, through fifteen strong, varied characters from different generations. These are interpreted by talents from Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Gabon, the Democratic Republic of Congo or Cameroon. At the top of the bill, we find renowned actors known to the general public such as: Mahoula Kane (Invisibles, Cocoa, The Three Lascars), Halima Gadji (Mistress of a married man), Serge Abessolo (Cocoa, Eki) or Ali Cissé (invisible).

Bringing together so many scriptwriters, directors, actors and technicians who are the “future” of the African audiovisual landscape reinforces our vision of a creative, innovative Africa called upon to play a leading role in the world audiovisual sector. “, rejoices Fabrice Faux, director of channels and content of Canal + International, co-producer.

For their part, Samantha Biffot and Pierre-Adrien Ceccaldi, of On Est Ensemble Productions (to whom we owe the series Mami Wata, The Legend of Iveza or the entertainment show 4 weddings for a honeymoon), says he is already committed to developing the next hundred and twenty episodes so that ” the extraordinary adventure continues “.

The future is ours was selected in the official French-speaking foreign competition at the next edition of the La Rochelle Fiction Festival.
