battery percentage is not available on all iPhones

Apple has confirmed that older devices and some newer models will not be able to show the battery percentage in the iOS status bar.

By inaugurating the return of the display of the battery percentage remaining in iphone status bar in the fifth beta of iOS 16, Apple has undoubtedly made people happy. This essential information had, at the time, been removed from the main screen due to lack of space in the status bar, the fault of the iPhone X, the first model to have a notch at the top of the screen.

Unfortunately, the release of the final version of iOS 16 has confirmed what some feared: the battery percentage is not available on all iPhone models. Apple has confirmed this in an update to one of its support pages dedicated. We thus learn that the percentage of remaining autonomy, deactivated by default, cannot be displayed on the iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini. Apple does not give any details on the reasons for this absence.

For owners of these models, nothing changes. They will need to continue to deploy the iOS Control Center if they want to know the remaining battery life of their device. For others, the display of the percentage of battery life remaining in the battery icon must be activated manually. To do this, you must go to the Settings of iOS 16, then in the Battery menu, activate the option Battery percentage.

Once the option is in place, it allows you to display the percentage of remaining battery life directly in the battery icon. The latter is also displayed in green when the iPhone is connected to the mains, and remains complete as long as the iPhone is charged beyond 20%. Below this limit, the icon turns red and displays a reduced charge.
