AS FAR in Group A

AS FAR was placed in group A of the Women’s Champions League of the Confederation of African Football (Morocco-2022), following the draw made on Friday at the Mohammed VI football complex in Maâmora (near Dirty).

This group also includes the teams of Determine Girls FC from Liberia, Simba Queens FC from Tanzania and Green Buffaloes from Zambia.

Group B is made up of South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns (defender), Bayelsa Queens (Nigeria), Wadi Degla FC (Egypt), UNAF Champion, in addition to the representative of UNIFFAC (Union of Central African Football Federations), whose identity will be known at the end of the zonal qualifying tournament scheduled for September 10 to 16 in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.

“Group A is the hardest and toughest. It includes two direct competitors for the next round, namely Simba Queens FC and Green Buffaloes,” said AS FAR women’s team coach Mohamed Amine Alioua.

“Simba is a very tough and difficult team to play, as well as Green Buffaloes. On the other hand, we do not know much about the Liberian team of Determine Girls FC,” he told MAP, adding “we will do our best to ensure our qualification in the next round”.

After admitting that pool A is very solid and that there will be competition between the four teams, he indicated that AS FAR will play this tournament game by game.

“We must forget our 3rd place won last year. Every game will be a final,” he warned.

The clubs participating in the Champions League have met the new CAF club licensing criteria and they represent the six zonal unions. Four teams will discover the final phase of the tournament, namely: Green Buffaloes (Champions of COSAFA), Determine Girls FC (Champions of UFOA A), Simba Queens FC (Champions of CECAFA) and Bayelsa Queens (Champions of UFOA B ).

The final tournament is scheduled for October 31 to November 13 in Morocco.
