A former Liverpool player has criticized the choice made by the club’s management to bet on the Brazilian Arthur on the final day of the transfer window.
Former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher has questioned the value of signing Brazilian player Arthur from Juve.
Arthur has joined Liverpool on loan to help ease the many injury problems the Reds are having in midfield at the moment. But his arrival therefore does not convince the former defender of the club.
“Arthur is just there to fill a void”
Carragher told Sky Sports: “I don’t think Arthur is the solution Liverpool needed. We needed a younger and more energetic player. I think Arthur is just there to fill a void and that’s why Liverpool snapped him up on loan.”
“Carra” was hoping to see a different face land at Anfield this summer. “The midfielder they wanted (Jude Bellingham, Borussia Dortmund) is not available at the moment, so I think it made sense to get someone else on loan.”
Before Arthur, Liverpool had acquired Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay this summer for a total investment of 90 million euros.
