Mainly due to climate change, Lake Mead started to dry up a few months ago. Since then, several human corpses have come to the surface. A few days ago, the authorities notably made a fourth macabre discovery. An investigation is still ongoing.
Authorities made the first discovery last May. Human remains were found in a barrel. Although the scientists could not identify the victim, they suspect that it was a person victim of homicide.
In a statement, the National Park Service said the fourth corpse, which was discovered a few days ago, was found in the National Recreation Area of the lake mead. The local press suggests that it could be Daniel Kolod. His son says that Daniel drowned during a boat trip in 1958. He thinks it could very well be his father due to missing teeth and a prosthesis present on the body found. In addition, his father was 22 when he died and the medical examiner indicates that the victim was in his twenties at the time of his death. However, the police are waiting for more concrete evidence to formalize the news.
Authorities expect more bodies to surface in the coming months. According to NASAthe lake has reached its lowest water level since the 1930s, retaining only 27% of its water capacity.
